The Pine Jog Environmental Center is an amazing place in West Palm Beach that also serves as an elementary school for local children. It is a great place for education in plant life and diversity. Several years ago, we were given the opportunity to update their bioswales around the property. A bioswale is an extremely interesting drainage feature and can be used in any landscape to filter excess storm water. Using selected plant life, a bioswale collects storm water runoff from roof structures and/or parking lots, and allows percolation into our aquifer in a natural and sustainable manner. We assisted with the proper flow, installing several native plants, and adding stone to reduce erosion in one of the bioswales at Pine Jog.
